UDL Parent Policies & Agreement
Please read the following policies carefully before registering your child. Parents and guardians will be required to confirm their agreement during registration.
UDL Positive Sideline Policy
UDL is committed to creating a positive environment where children can think, make decisions, compete and enjoy playing without pressure from the sideline.
Parents and spectators may positively encourage all players. However, coaching from the sideline is not permitted.
Parents and spectators must not:
• Tell players to pass, shoot, dribble, defend or where to move
• Shout tactical instructions during games
• Criticize a child’s decisions or mistakes
• Speak negatively to any player, coach, official or parent
• Shout aggressively or create unnecessary pressure
• Enter the playing area unless invited by a coach
• Challenge coaching decisions during a session or game
Positive comments such as “Great effort,” “Keep going,” “Well done” and “Have fun” are encouraged.
Children need the freedom to solve problems, make mistakes and learn through the game. Excessive adult instruction can affect their confidence, decision-making and enjoyment.
Parent warning procedure
First incident: A verbal reminder will be given by a coach.
Second incident: Continued or serious incident: The parent or spectator will be asked to leave the field area.
Repeated violations may result in the family’s continued participation in UDL being reviewed. Refunds will not automatically be provided when removal results from a serious or repeated violation of this policy.
UDL Player Standards
UDL players are expected to:
• Listen when coaches are speaking
• Treat teammates, opponents and coaches with respect
• Keep their hands and feet to themselves
• Avoid bullying, threatening or intentionally hurting others
• Use appropriate language
• Try their best and participate positively
• Respect equipment and facilities
• Respond appropriately when a coach gives an instruction or correction
We understand that children are still learning how to manage emotions, competition and disappointment. Coaches will support and redirect players appropriately while maintaining a safe environment for everyone.
Player behavior procedure
Step 1 - Coach reminder: The player will receive a clear reminder and an opportunity to correct the behavior.
Step 2 -Short reset: If the behavior continues, the player will sit out for a few minutes, calm down and speak with a coach before returning.
Step 3 - Parent collection: If unsafe, aggressive or seriously disruptive behavior continues, the parent or guardian may be asked to take the player home from that session.
Serious behavior, including intentional violence, bullying or conduct that threatens another person’s safety, may result in immediate removal from the activity.
Repeated incidents will lead to a conversation with the parent and may require a written behavior plan before the player returns.

Players must bring indoor sneakers to every session. If weather requires UDL to move indoors, outdoor cleats cannot be worn inside. Players who do not have suitable indoor footwear may not participate indoors for safety reasons.
